Studio Design & Construction: The Makers Lab Expansion Proposal

I developed the expansion proposal for The Makers Lab, designing a full-service production and post-production facility that could grow with the studio’s creative and operational needs. The proposal outlined a complete ground and second floor buildout with dedicated spaces for editorial, audio, graphics, VFX, CGI, and finishing, along with client-facing areas that supported collaboration and review.

The design featured two audio suites with a whisper booth, three editorial suites, a color suite, and a main editorial room on the ground floor. The second floor introduced a centralized server room, post-production offices, a large conference room, and communal areas including a kitchen and client lounge. Every space was planned to meet professional technical specifications, including GTI-standard N5 gray walls, high-CRI 6500K lighting, routed broadcast and client monitors through Blackmagic systems, and acoustically treated rooms for recording and mixing.

The proposal also included support for hybrid workflows through a centralized server room designed for secure data management and seamless collaboration across teams.
